Activities

From Bonjourquebec.com:

The joys of country livingTo enjoy the Eastern Townships to the fullest, get on your bike and head for the region’s 500 km (310 mi.) of cycle paths, 200 km (125 mi.) of which consist of the Montréal-Québec section of the Route verte (“green route”), a province-wide cycle network. Walkers, in turn, have no shortage of hiking trails to choose from. One of the longest and most spectacular is the Sentiers de l'Estrie, northeast of the Vermont border: 150 km (93 mi.) of stunning views. As for water sports enthusiasts, the joys of the region’s lakes—Saint-François (in the Parc national de Frontenac), Memphrémagog, Massawippi and Mégantic—need no introduction! Some 15 Relais santé spas offer up health and relaxation getaways in restful surroundings. Lastly, the Abbaye Saint-Benoît-du-Lac marvellously embodies the serenity that comes from living in harmony with nature, in a setting that attests to the happy marriage of water and mountain.

Charles, Alex and I hope to cycle at least for one day... join us!!

Accomodations

Pictures of the Eastern Townships I stole from someone's Flickr account.

I have asked twice about receiving a discount at the Auberge for guests but unfortunately the prices are as listed on their website ( http://www.awb.ca/index.php?page=accommodations ). It is quite exspensive but there are so many cute little B&Bs and other inns nearby which are much less.

Charles & I are looking into hiring a shuttle service for the evening with the hopes that our guests can be picked up for the wedding and driven safely home afterwards. We will let you know closer to the date what we have arranged.

Gift Registry

Charles & I made a very quick trip to The Bay to add some items to our registry. Our number is 07984024. Remember, we are just so honoured to have you at our wedding, that is the greatest gift you can give us!

Dress Arrival

My dress arrived last week and I went to my first fitting a wee bit anxious. As I expected, the beautiful gown can barely contain all my womanly curves! At least I have four months to whip myself into shape. Don't worry, I didn't cry!

Invitations have been sent!

After some minor difficulties, our invitations have been sent today. We hope they arrive in one piece as the seals are a bit questionable. I reinforced them with glue but I'm not entirely convinced they'll stick. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Be sure to visit our website, http://www.theknot.com/ourwedding/KimberlyYip&CharlesBrochu
bookmark it, and make your entree selection there. We hope you will RSVP online as well (and keep the stamp for yourself!).

Productive Trip

The Auberge West Brome & Spa. It was nice to see it without all the snow!

The side of the Auberge attached to the old barn. We will be married, weather permitting, on the other side of the trees.

The pool which sits between two of the auberge buildings.

Walking around the town of Knowlton.

Our fleuriste (florist).
We visited with a few wedding vendors this past Easter weekend and have now only the celebrant to book. It was busy & tiring but we are very happy to have most of the work done. We are excited about all the details! Our cake baker is fabulous... she is very talented and creative. She won us over by giving us samples by the way of cupcakes in assorted flavours; we are now 'cupcaked' out! We found a wonderful pair of musicians who also have a DJ service and know all our guests will be delighted with them. Our Friday evening alone while Alex stayed with Mamie & Papie was a real treat. We sampled our dinner menu and after some small changes, we are sure everyone will enjoy the meal. The auberge gave us an amazing deal to stay in their one bedroom suite; the views were amazing and we enjoyed the peace and quiet, not to mention sleeping in! Charles was a real sport by participating as much as he could at the florist; I think his favourite part was listening to the vocal canary who lived there!
Our invites will be going out by the end of the month. So look forward to receiving something in the mail that is not a bill! You may RSVP via the reply card or online at our website at:
You will also need to submit your main course selection either by e-mail or via the website on the RSVP section.
